Mama Sierra, empowering Colombian women
Mama Sierra is a group of women coffee farmers from the community of Giraldo, originally led by Yessica Parra, a young and ambitious sourcing professional.
This project aims at empowering Colombian women in coffee production and business management.
“As a woman working in the coffee industry, we want to prove that the coffee quality from female producers has the same high value of men’s, but the main challenge is to make them believe in themselves, due to the ‘machista’ Colombian culture” – Yessica Parra
Mujeres de Giraldo features exceptional quality coffee, cultivated and harvested by 15 talented women from the Antioquia region of Colombia. Committed to quality, sustainability, and empowerment, these women are utilizing coffee production to positively impact their communities. Grown at 1900-2200m in Giraldo, Antioquia, the Castillo and Caturra coffee varieties offer a unique flavor profile of chocolate and citrus. Each cup brewed is a tribute to the effort of these remarkable women.
